Import Contacts Into Your FASO Email Account

If you move your email account from a different email provider to FASO, your list of contacts will not automatically be transferred over to your FASO hosted email account.

If you are not using a specific email client for access to email (like Outlook, Thunderbird, Windows Live Mail, a Built-In Mail App, Apple Mail, etc.), you may need to transfer your contacts.

Following are the steps to import your contacts list into your FASO personalized/domain email account.

Export

Create CSV File in your NON-FASO (or other FASO) Email Account

Create a Comma Separated Value (.csv) export file from your web-based email program (Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, me.com, etc).

NOTE: Each email program will have their own specific set of instructions for exporting. Please refer to the instructions for the email account you use.

for Gmail:

  • open email account
  • click Contacts
  • click More / Export
  • for 'Which export format?' select Outlook CSV format (for importing into Outlook or another application)
  • click Export

for Yahoo:

  • open email account
  • click Options (upper right)
  • select Mail or More Options
  • click Contacts (from list on left)
  • click Tools
  • click Export
  • select CSV

When using Firefox as your browser, after the steps above, a box pops up asking if you want to open or save the file. Save it.

It should then appear on your computer desktop as a file called: contacts.csv (it saves as an Excel file).

For other email programs, you can do a Google search on how to export your contacts list for that program.

  • click Log In to this email account
  • enter password and click Log In
  • click Contacts
  • click Import/Export Contacts
  • under Import Contacts, click Browse to find your .csv file
  • click on your file in the pop-up box to select it
  • click Open (it should show to the right of Browse)
