You Cannot Use a Role Email Address when Signing up for Facebook

When setting up a account, Facebook will not accept email addresses with a generic or 'role' prefix. Examples of this are:

  • info@
  • contact@
  • gallery@
  • artist@
  • support@
  • admin@
  • sales@
  • mail@

These are email addresses that are not associated with a particular person, but rather with an entire company, department, position, etc.

Facebook says that this is their way of preventing people posing as businesses and trying to set up fake accounts.

This info was not posted on Facebook, but in some discussions and articles from others who had the same problem.

You will need to use a different, personal, email address in order to set up a Facebook account.
