How to Change Main Page Title Tag

The Main Page Title Tag is the text that appears in your browser's tab on your computer. Think of the title tag as a headline that advertises your website.

(Page Heading is the heading that appears on the page of your site.)

Change Main Page Title Tag via Marketing Tools and Channels Option

  • login to control panel
  • click Marketing icon (upper row)
  • click on Use Marketing Tools

  • scroll down to Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • click Change Your Search Engine Settings
  • click Edit Home Page Metatags  (below Home Page SEO)
  • in the text box for Title Tag for Main Page, enter desired text (short and sweet - no longer than 70 characters)
  • click Save Changes (top or bottom)

Change Main Page Title Tag via Main Page Editing Screen

  • login to control panel
  • click Your Site's Home Page (left menu bar)
  • click Advanced SEO and Code button (bottom right)
  • enter Main Page title to the Page Title field
  • Save Changes

Advanced SEO and Code Screen Options

The Advanced SEO and Code screen offers the following options.

Hover your mouse over the question mark next to each title to see these descriptions:

Page Title: This is what will be used in the html title tag for this page. It is what appears on the browser tab for the page (also on the bookmark). It does NOT appear on the body of the page.

Page Heading: This is the heading (H1) that will appear in the body of your page, it will override FASO default settings.

Meta Description: Whatever text you use here will be used in the meta description tag for this page.

Rel Canonical: If this page's content is copied from another site, put the url to the original page here. This will prevent Google from thinking you are a content thief.

Meta Keywords: Whatever text you use here will be used in the meta keywords tag for this page. This tag is no longer used by search engines, so it is rare that you would need to put anything here.

Example

Perhaps you paint oil paintings of Hawaiian Monk Seals. In that case, you may want to use a title such as Hawaiian Monk Seal Oil Paintings by (Your Name)

Note: Changing the Title Tag may affect your Google rankings.

If you leave the Title Tag blank, FASO will automatically use the phrase (Your Name) Fine Art.
