Recent Works - How to Choose the Images

Use a Slideshow to control which images show in Recent Works widget

Many of our designs include the Recent Works widget on the bottom or side of your website and on some templates, only on the home/main page. Also depending on template, it displays 4-8 thumbnails of your most recent uploads, so your site visitors can easily see what's new.

In general, we suggest you leave this in default mode. However, if you really want to control which images show, you can. (See how we are?)

It's done by creating a special slideshow.

Take Note:

If you do this, you'll want to be mindful to switch the images up fairly often. Otherwise it may seem like there's nothing 'recent' about your work at all!

See low in this FAQ for quick steps to edit the images.

[Of course, you can always go back to the default. Very little is 'set in stone' here at FASO.
See green box at the bottom for how to go back.]

HOW TO

To seize control of your Recent Works widget:

First: Note the number of images in the Recent Works widget on your home page.

Next:

  • Login to FASO Control Panel
  • Click Artwork icon (upper row)
  • Click Add/Edit Slide Shows

  • Click Create a Slideshow (green button)

  • Add exactly this for Name (don't worry about capitalization):

recent works widget

(That part IS set in stone. It must have that title or your efforts are in vain.)

  • Click Create (red button)

  • Click + Add Artworks (blue button)

  • Click each thumbnail you want - a check mark should pop into the upper left corner

(Adding more than the 4-8 on your site is a waste of your precious time.)

  • Click Ok (green button)

  • Drag and drop into the order you want
  • Click Apply Changes (green button top left)

Now check your site. You may need to refresh your browser to see the update).

Fair Warning

If you happen to create a slideshow titled Recent Works Widget that has no images, then the widget on your site will be empty!

To change out images, edit that slideshow. Here are quick steps:

  • Control Panel
  • Artwork
  • Add/Edit Slideshow
  • Click Edit icon (little pencil in blue box) to the right of your recent works widget slideshow
  • Use the red minus button to remove an image
  • Use + Add Artworks to add
  • Apply Changes

To go back to the default...

To revert to letting the system auto-select your most recent uploads, you can either delete the slideshow, or re-name it, such as
recent works widget hide
That way you can use it again in the future by removing the word hide.
